Limeade is one of the most classic drinks that help us power through the hottest of summer days. There’s something super refreshing about lime, sugar and ice-cold water that combine to give us the ultimate respite. Read on to find out ways to spice up this classic drink to enjoy on a hot summer day.
Basil Mint Limeade
Crush some mint, basil and lime at the bottom of your glass. Stir in half a glass of cold water and add some sugar. Stir till the sugar dissolves, add water till the glass is full and stir to combine it all. Enjoy your Limeade with a herbed kick. For a fizzy version, add Sprite instead of water and sugar.
Strawberry and lime were a match made in heaven and these two ingredients come together to tickle your taste buds in this invigorating strawberry limeade. Blend some fresh or frozen strawberries with some sugar and water in a blender. Pour in into a glass and add the lime juice to it. Taste and adjust the amount of water and sugar. Chill before serving.
Tender Coconut Limeade
It really is as simple as it sounds. All you need is a tender coconut which is easily available in markets and with street vendors and some lime. Pour out the tender coconut water into a vessel and add lime juice to it. For added texture, using a big knife carefully carve and widen the opening on the tender coconut and scoop out the coconut flesh. Cut it into tiny pieces and mix it into your limeade.
Rosemary and lime is a combination that is so often used in continental cooking. This wonderful combination also yields a great summer drink. Bring some water and sugar to a boil in a saucepan. Bruise some sprigs of rosemary and add it to the sugar syrup. Once it has completely cooled, strain it and add some lime juice and water. Cool and serve.
Iced Tea Limeade
Tea and lime can provide us with comfort in any season. For the summer, there’s nothing more rejuvenating than a glass of iced tea limeade. Heat water in a saucepan and once it has reached it’s boiling point, take it off the heat and add tea bags and discard the tea bags after 3 minutes. Add the lime juice to the concentration and add honey to sweeten the tea limeade. Pour it into glasses, add ice and enjoy. You can experiment with different flavours of tea for different outcomes.
All you require for this is equal amounts of limeade and watermelon juice. Combine the two properly and refrigerate till chilled. The result is a vibrant and revivifying limeade that will knock your socks off. You can also add chucks of watermelon to your glass to add texture and to nibble on after your drink is over. Garnish with mint to add some colour.
