7 Foods that Could Be the Reason Behind Your Low Sex Drive

What you eat can determine a lot about you. The foods you eat are not just responsible for energy but also for the healthy functioning of various parts of the body. So, if you are feeling dull and sluggish after the most romantic dinner date ever then turn around and take a good look at what you ate. Because certain foods you eat may be responsible for low sex drive, and affect sex in both physical and psychological ways.

Low levels of testosterone in the body is one of the most common reasons behind low sex drive. So, if you are planning for a long romantic night that will go on even after your dinner, then avoid eating these foods.

1. Dairy


A cheese spaghetti with meatballs might seem like an easy and romantic dinner to get to your table. But dairy products which contain lactic acid have been linked to causing low sex drive according to studies. Hormones in cow’s milk cause the natural hormones in men and women to become unbalanced and hence avoid consuming these.

2. Soy


Soy has estrogenic properties and men consuming it in higher proportions is not recommended. It might interfere with the natural hormone balance in the body and various soy-related products such as soy milk, sauce, tofu etc have been observed to decrease testosterone levels and sperm count.

3. Chocolate


If you are planning to gift your loved one a box full of chocolates then better make sure you don’t end up opening it too soon. Chocolates in small quantities can actually be a libido-boosting or sex drive enhancing food. But when consumed in large quantities it brings down testosterone levels in the body. It might make you feel lethargic and sluggish and temporarily lower your desires.

4. Fried foods and trans fats

Greasy food on your plate cannot be of much help to you in your bedroom. Trans fatty acids are responsible for abnormal sperm count in males and also has negative effects on female gestation. Trans fats clog arteries and this is one the major reasons why you need to stay clear from these foods.

5. Microwave popcorn

Snuggling on the couch with a bowl full of popcorn and a lovely movie night is a ravishing romantic evening idea. But if you are planning to have microwave popcorn then you better take the couch for the night. These popcorn bags contain perfluoroalkyl acids which cause low sperm count and sex drive.

6. Alcohol


A glass or 2 may be fine to set the mood for the night. But if you are planning to get trashed then you must be ready to face the effects of the same in your bedroom. Excessive alcohol can have a negative effect on men’s sex drive as well as affect their ability to achieve and maintain erections.

7. Diet Soda


If you ask me, I would recommend you cut down consuming diet soda in general for the overall development of your health. There is a huge range of artificial sweeteners that are added to diet soda to keep the flavors and this affects the serotonin levels in the body. Diet soda does more harm than good and considering it a healthier choice is absurd.

Apart from these avoid consuming mint, licorice, strawberries, packaged meat wrapped in plastic and canned goods as these food have also been observed to cause low sex drive.
