With the release of Uri and The Accidental Prime Minister, 2019 is already shaping up to be an exciting year for Hindi moviegoers. Moreover, there are a number of versatile movies with intriguing story-lines lined up for release in the coming months. Here's a list of some Hindi movies in 2019 that we just can't wait to watch.
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga
The movie that I personally am most excited for, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is truly the movie that this generation deserves. It is the first time that Bollywood has made a movie on homosexuality with all the ingredients of a mainstream movie without ridiculing the topic. The trailer is quite well-made, and will leave you guessing what the movie is actually about until the very end.
Two of the most popular young talents in Bollywood come together in Gully Boy. It's about an aspiring rapper from the streets. Both Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt look to expand their boundaries further with rather unconventional roles. Not only was the movie able to catch people's attention with its trailer but also by dropping the song Apna Time Aayega, which also features Ranveer Singh himself. Since its release a few weeks ago, the song has become the center of several memes, and is constantly discussed in popular culture.
Luka Chuppi is another modern day romance that takes a look at live-in relationships. Starring Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aryan, the movie tells the story of a couple that enters into a live-in relationship, and the hilarity that ensues as they try to convince their respective families that they are actually married. At a deeper level, the movie tries to deal with the idea of how live-in relationships continue to be socially unacceptable in India.
Not much is known about this film scheduled for a March release, but it sure looks to be promising with Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra at its helm. Akshay Kumar plays the valorous Havildar Ishar Singh who fought the Battle of Saragarhi in British India.
The Zoya Factor
Following a long wait, fans of Anuja Chauhan’s bestseller, The Zoya Factor, are finally getting an on-screen adaptation of the massively popular book of the same name. After reading about the lovable Zoya Singh Solanki and the extremely swoon-worthy Nikhil Khoda falling in love, we now get to witness the same magic on the big screen. If things go favorably, and the movie does justice to the book, The Zoya Factor has the potential to be a wholesome romantic comedy, complete with Mills and Boon tropes and moments which leave you gushing.
So, here’s hoping that these movies live up to their expectations, and 2019 turns out to be an exciting year for the Hindi film industry, as well as, its audience.
